US Reacts on Pacquiao Win Against Marquez

U.S. unleashes controversy on Pacquiao win against Marquez. The majority decision win over Filipino Manny Pacquiao against Juan Manuel Marquez (114-114, 115-113, 116-112) in MGM Grand in Las Vegas, was described today as “controversial” by the United States press which called it a draw or a victory of the Mexican.

“Another fight between two men ended in controversy and no questions are cleared,” – New York Times

“rarely in the history of boxing has completed a big fight with so much doubt and controversy.” “For many, the best pound for pound fighter in the world was dominated by Marquez, who not only maintained the intense pace of Pacquiao for all 12 rounds, but seemed to come out on top of any of the exchanges.” – Los Angeles Times

“muddied the waters,” – The Wall Street Journal

It was the third comparison between the two boxing champions. In his first fight in 2004, Pacquiao knocked down Marquez three times in the first round, but the Mexican recovered and got a draw. In 2008, Pacquiao won a split decision by the minimum difference of one point. Whew!
