Barack Obama stood on the stage of the Commander-in-Chief Ball and spoke of the woman he loved.
“I’ve got a date with me here,” he said. “She inspires me every day. She makes me a better man and a better president. The fact that she is so devoted to taking care of our troops and our military families is just one more sign of her extraordinary love and grace and strength. I’m just lucky to have her.”

Then Michelle Obama emerged, resplendent, and joined him for a dance to “Let’s Stay Together,” performed by Jennifer Hudson. The president held her cheek to cheek and she whispered to him and sang along. (via AP)

Jennifer Hudson slams “American Idol.” Believes the reality singing contest should “go out on top.”
This week, viewers finally got to see some of the Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj drama unfold onscreen. Now, American Idol season 3 contestant Jennifer Hudson weighs in!
Despite being voted off went on to become a successful artist with a Grammy-winning debut album and an Oscar, Bafta and Golden Globe for her role in the 2006 film Dreamgirls as Elfie White, says American Idol, which has seen ratings slowly decline, should call it a day – and “go out on top”.
Hudson told Celebuzz:
“Everything has its time. I think it should just allow itself to go out on top… and gracefully.” Referring to the show that made her famous to the public.
Hudson added, “American Idol changed the face of television. So, not everyone can say that. And, it’s always been a phenomenon. I’m proud to have come from American Idol, so I just say, go out on top.”

Season two premiere of Smash starts in February 5 at 9 p.m. on NBC.

NBC’s ‘Smash‘ is getting another American Idol veteran.
Grammy winner and ‘Idol’ alum Jennifer Hudson is joining the NBC show in a recurring role for its second season, announced Friday.

Hudson, who won an Oscar for her role in the 2006 movie Dreamgirls, will play the recurring character Veronica Moore, a Tony-winning actress, in the NBC show’s second season.
“We’re thrilled to have Jennifer Hudson coming to ‘Smash,’” NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement.
“This series is a showcase for some of the best musical talent in the business and that’s a fitting description for Jennifer Hudson. Her character will represent someone who reached their Broadway dream but also paid a price for it.” he added.
According to executive producer Stephen Spielberg, said: “I have no doubt Jennifer will continue to deliver even more inspiration to the audience responsible for giving us a second season on NBC.” Spielberg worked with Hudson on ‘Dreamgirls.’
