World’s boxing champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao won Best Fighter at the 2011 Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) Awards beating such big athletes like Benard Hopkins, Sergio Martinez, George St. Pierre and Jon “Bones” Jones for the said category. Pacquiao won the same ESPY award in 2009.
The 19th Annual ESPY Awards ceremony aired on ESPN Channel broadcasted live form Los Angeles in California. Other winners include Dirk Nowitzki and Lindsay Vonn who received the highest honer of the year – announced as Best Male and Female Athletes. Best Male College Athlete went to Jimmer Fredette, Rafael Nadal as Best Male Tennis Player, Serena Williams as Best Female Tennis Player and Rory Mcllroy as Best Male Golfer.
The annual EPSY Awards allows sports fans to vote online for their favorites in categories such as Best Male Athlete, Best Female Athlete, Best Coach/Manager, and Team of the Year. Created and begun by cable sports channel ESPN in 1993.
