It’s been nearly a year since the confetti dropped, her name was called, and tears were shed when songstress Melanie Amaro took home the winning crown on Season 1 of THE X FACTOR.
On Thursday, the 20-year-old is going to show us just what it means to have the X factor when she hits the Top 6 results show stage to perform her new never-before-heard single, “Long Distance,” from her highly anticipated debut album, Truly, which is due out early next year on Epic Records and features a mix of R&B with dance-pop.
“On X FACTOR I was all about the ballads, but there’s this other side of me that’s all about pop, the kind of music you can move and dance and have fun to. At the same time, my biggest influences have always been singers like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, and I definitely stayed true to that on the album,” says Melanie.
Truly features the creme de la creme of writers and producers, including Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins (Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry), Kuk Harrell (Britney Spears, Usher, Chris Brown), C. “Tricky” Stewart (Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige), and Bleu McAuley (Demi Lovato, the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez).
